Welcome!

The pre-school nursery was set up in Littleover in 1987 as a registered charity and, over the years, has provided childcare and education to hundreds of local families. We are an inclusive group and welcome all children and their families.
We recognise that each child comes to us with their own unique life experiences, interests and challenges. We work hard to get to know each child and their family so that we can best support each individual child to reach their full potential. In many cases, we are one of the child’s first experiences of independence away from their family and we endeavor to foster in them kindness, sharing, listening, and concentration as well developing their academic skills, all of which will stand them in good stead as they progress through life.
We are registered and inspected by Ofsted, which means that we can accept funding for all eligible children.
We offer a combination of fun, stimulating and educational activities in a happy, caring environment for children from 2 1/2 years of age. We have spacious indoor accommodation and extensive grounds where the children can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities.
Key worker groups
Upon joining pre-school your child will be allocated a specific member of staff as their key worker who will be responsible for your child and the main point of contact for you. The aim of the key worker system is to provide consistency and to facilitate a strong partnership between parents and pre-school ensuring the best care for each individual child. The key workers will carry out regular observations of the children in their group and make sure that they are happy and progressing well in pre-school. Specific “parent interview” sessions are arranged every term when you can discuss your child’s progress with their key worker and contribute to your child’s ongoing Learning Journey. You may talk to your key worker at any time if you have any particular questions or concerns.
Parents in pre-school
Parents obviously play a vital role in both the care and education of their child and so we like to involve parents as much as possible in pre-School life. We hold regular social events, parents accompany us on outings and anyone who is interested is welcome to join our parents’ committee. New parents are encouraged to stay with their child until he/she has settled down. If parents have specific skills such as playing a musical instrument etc. we would be really happy for them to come into pre-school and share this with the children.
